BOULDER SKIMO CLUB UPDATE
After the US National Team Qualifying race in mid-December at A-Basin (where yours truly placed 3rd in Vertical and 4th in the Individual race, achieving the team qualification standard), I took a much needed trip back to my Italian motherland, back in the Alps and the Dolomites.
It was great to reconnect with family I hadn’t been to able to see for years due to the COVID imposed travel bans, to reconnect with my roots and my culture, and to get reacquainted with the deep heritage that uphill skiing has in the alpine valley of Valfurva and throughout the region of Trentino.
I’m excited to share some of my experience in some upcoming articles on WildSnow.com. You can also catch some of my ramblings on this podcast episode on Grace Staberg’s Alpine Start podcast.
While the ski season is well under way, this weekend’s snowfall, the Power of Four race, and an informal Women’s Uphill “event” at Eldora this Tuesday morning, inspired me to reach out to all 272 of you.
While the Eldora event is open to women only (more below), it would be great to see all of you up on the hill for some morning laps. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, I’d be happy to give out tidbits of advice to improve both your uphill and downhill, in order to make your ski touring experience more enjoyable and efficient — and ultimately get more & better skiing done! :)
