WHY SKIMO FOR ENDURANCE ATHLETES?
What the pros are saying…

“A Triathlete’s Guide to Skimo”
Triathlete Magazine

“Instead of spending hours indoors on the treadmill or on the trainer, skimo offers a low impact all-around workout in a beautiful setting. “The winter and spring time is the perfect time to take your mind and body slightly off the swim/bike/run routine, working on other very important aspects of physical & mental health that are still very much conducive to good triathlon performance”. — Davide Giardini

FROM MAT STEINMETZ:

Cycling Performance Consultant

“For almost two decades, I sought ways to avoid winter so I could ride my bike and train without dealing with snow.

However, with the arrival of children, that became impractical and I decided to explore skiing 3 years ago. It was a completely new experience for me, never having clipped into skis before. I found myself alongside my kids on the bunny hill, learning the basics. My aim for the first year was modest: to ski down from the Alpenglow lift at Eldora. Achieving this would set me up to tackle uphill skiing the following year.

Although I thoroughly enjoy downhill skiing, I don't consider it a comprehensive form of exercise. Uphill skiing, on the other hand, perfectly aligns with my fitness goals. It allows me to stay in shape on the mountain while tapping into the essence of what exercise means to me. Being outdoors in nature, moving uphill, and enjoying the thrill of the descent all contribute to a fulfilling workout experience.

Learning to ski at 40 also presents a continuous challenge for improvement. Unlike running or biking at my age, where progress has plateaued, skiing offers me ongoing opportunities to refine my skills and witness substantial improvements”
